Michelle began her Pilates journey in 2007 after the birth of her 1st child. While recovering from an emergency c-section and attempting to return to competitive Dressage riding, Pilates seemed the best choice and has continued to improve both her riding and her overall health. While doing graduate work in Health and Exercise Science at the University of Oklahoma, Michelle took her Pilates study from personal to professional in 2014 ironically just after the birth of her 2nd child. She began teaching undergraduate Pilates Mat classes and found that teaching others about the remarkable benefits of Pilates was where she wanted to focus her education and career goals. Having been raised by two physicians and originally on the path to Infectious Disease physician and then later Physician Associate, the "ah ha" moment when preventative medicine became her chosen path was a significant discovery!
Michelle continued her Pilates education thru the Pilates Instructor Academy's 500 hour comprehensive teacher training program, which she completed in May of 2018. During this training, Michelle also decided the logical step in her career was to combine 2 of her great loves Pilates and Riding. Michelle has been riding since the age of 6 with the help of her Aunt Becky and her welsh pony, "Buttercup". She later went on to compete in Quarter Horse shows in both western and English events as well as Reining. While in university, she rode vicariously thru her sister as they went around the country to various Hunter/Jumper and Quarter horse shows. Finally, after 10 years without her own horse, her father purchased a well trained Friesian mare in foal. She began her study of Dressage with the help of her dad's mare Hannah and her trainer Anthea Kin. She continues her practice of Dressage with her Friesian mare, Zieta. She completed her Equestrian Pilates Level I and II Instructor courses created by Elizabeth Hanson in 2018 and looks forward to bringing the benefits of Pilates to the equestrian community.
Michelle believes that you can never stop learning and improving. She is always looking to further her Pilates education for both her personal practice and for the benefit of her clients. Perfection is her unattainable goal, but she sure enjoys the journey. Her goal with her clients is to be fully present during each session, help them meet their personal goals and leave the studio feeling better than when they came in that day!
When not doing Pilates or riding her horses, you'll find Michelle spending time with her husband and their 2 children exploring local hiking and biking paths, watching movies or enjoying a good book!
New to Fayetteville in 2017, Michelle and her family have felt so welcomed and embraced by the local community. She is so excited to bring her new business to the area and looks forward to many years of growing the business and raising her family in NWA!
